Secondhand Bookshops in Stockbridge, Edinburgh

Here’s a gallery from my recent stay in Stockbridge in Edinburgh. There are two secondhand bookshops – for the charities Oxfam and Shelter  – and alongside these I’ve added a few good reading places. Stockbridge is an essential excursion for anyone visiting Edinburgh who’s into secondhand books. See also my previous post about bookshops in Southside. I shall have to catch up on blogs now that I’m back!

What lovely shops and a lovely area! I haven’t been to the Botanic Gardens since I was a child….

It’s an easy part of Edinburgh to get to. It’s a 10-minute walk downhill from Frederick Street, then a 20-minute walk back up again after a visit to the Bailie Bar!

Drooling over your bookshop pics has just taken window shopping to a whole new level – book browsing without bankruptcy, and cake without calories! 🙂

One day I’m getting back to Edinburgh and going to ALL of the bookshops! I didn’t get to go bookshopping when I went two years ago!

Must get through one of these days. Children’s books in foreign languages. How very Edinburgh…

Yes, it’s hard to know where the internationalism ends and the showmanship begins.

Hey, of course it’s showbiz. If we can get your attention with a colourful Christmas story in Lithuanian, we’ll go for it. (And we have done).

I just wish we could get more Asterix books in the original French – we can sell them as fast as they come in. Heck, we could sell them just as easily in Latin or Gaulish.
